Real president Perez "not contemplating" Ronaldo departure

It is well known that Zinedine Zidane's word means a lot to Cristiano Ronaldo as he was the only person who managed to convince the striker to accept reduced playing time for Los Blancos last season

Ronaldo is reportedly considering a return to Manchester United, also reported to be a potential destination for both Rodriguez and Morata.

He told Spanish radio station Onda Cero (h/t the Mirror's Joe Mewis): "The clause for Cristiano is £1 billion".

Ronaldo is with Portugal at the Confederations Cup in Russian Federation and has not said anything about his future since the A Bola story was published. Perez first became Real president in 2000, seeing off incumbent Lorenzo Sanz by promising to lure winger Luis Figo from bitter rivals Barcelona, which he quickly delivered on by bringing the Portuguese worldwide to the Spanish capital for a then world record fee of 62 million euros.

And according to Spanish sports daily Marca, Ronaldo has told his teammates: "I'm leaving Real".

Right now, reports quote the price to be anywhere between £125 million to £185 million, and while United have plenty of cash to burn, spending so much on a 32-year-old, albeit the best possible 32-year-old anyone can possibly get, will not be an easy decision to make. "There is no turning back".

Should Ronaldo become available for transfer, there would be interest from Manchester United, his former club, as well as from Paris Saint-Germain and clubs in the Chinese Super League.

Bayern President Uli Hoeness has pledged a big-name signing in the close season and Italian media had reported in recent days the German champions were interested in Ronaldo.

"We're used to being the subject of intense transfer speculation during transfer windows", Rummenigge said in a statement.

"But now in the case of Cristiano Ronaldo, we want to clarify once and for all that this rumour has no basis and must be referred to in the realm of fables". His large-scale investment in the team did not yield a Liga title in his second term as president until 2012, with a first Champions League triumph in 12 years following in 2014.
