The long-range supersonic Lancer bombers from its original base in the U.S. territory of Guam will train with South Korea's F-15K fighter jets for a few hours in the Korean airspace, South Korean news agency Yonhap reported.

Anchor: Two U.S. strategic bombers flew to the Korean Peninsula for a joint exercise with South Korean Air Force jets on Tuesday.

The U.S. and South Korea have been conducting joint military drills in South Korea amid rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

The B-1s will carry out the drills with two F-15K fighters from the Korean Air force, reports Efe news. The bombers, a key strategic asset of the USA forces in the Asia-Pacific region, will carry out mock bombing practice at the Pilsung Range in the eastern province of Gangwon, a source told Yonhap News.

While talking about the latest drill, Kim Sung-duk pointed out the allies regularly conducted such joint air training.

UPS worker kills self, three others in California shooting
A UPS employee in his uniform opened fire on employees. "Even one shooting and one victim is too many". The shooting led to a massive police response, initiating a shelter-in-place for the surrounding area.

This is reported to be the third time the United States is flying the sophisticated supersonic bombers since March in a show of strength against Pyongyang as it continues to test-fire ballistic missiles in defiance of worldwide warnings and sanctions.

Washington believes the joint military drills with Seoul are important to safeguard against any North Korean threat, which has increased over the last few months with Pyongyang's continued ballistic missile tests. A military source says the bombers took part in mock bombing practice near the two Koreas' eastern border before heading back.

The supersonic heavy bombers were sent to the East Sea for training hours after North Korea launched a ballistic missile on May 29th.

North Korea routinely objects to such flyovers and military exercises, calling them "provocations" and justification for its development of nuclear weapons for self-defense.
