Evacuations are being reported in the First and Third street areas.

The U.S. Forest Service says the blaze broke out amid dry air and blazing heat at about 3 p.m. Monday northeast of Big Bear.

The cause is under investigation.

In what was the hottest day of the year so far in the mountains, two firefighters suffered heat-related injuries as the blaze spread across an estimated 850 acres, officials said.
