International Yoga Day marked by millions in India, where it all began

International Yoga Day in China

On June 21, India is celebrating the third edition of International Yoga Day. "Its inclusion as World Intangible Cultural Heritage by UNESCO underlines its global significance, benefits for the entire humanity and growing reach", Swaraj said while addressing a gathering of diplomats at Pravasi Bhartiya Kendra here on the occasion of 3rd International Day of Yoga.

Yoga has also become part of education curriculum in various states, he said and added that this would make Yoga become part of one's life from student days itself.

People used Yoga mats for umbrellas as they waited for the clouds to pass and for the Indian Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi to arrive.

"It was a very nice gesture of prime minister to come out of the dry comfort of his waterproof tent and do yoga with us in the open".

"Earlier, Yoga was only restricted to saints and seers in the Himalayan mountains".

Tapwrit's final finish makes up for Triple Crown letdown at Belmont

Yoga guru Baba Ramdev shared photos on Twitter, as hundreds of thousands of people lined up on yoga mats in Ahemdabad before being presented with the Guinness World Record for the world's largest yoga session.

He has set up a ministry dedicated to promoting yoga and other traditional practices and persuaded the United Nations to create a dedicated International Yoga Day, a move seen as a triumph of soft power.

ITBP personnel took part in various Yoga sessions that were held in various parts of the country including Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. School children, government officials and politicians have been preparing for the day, to perform yoga with the prime minister.

Indian scholars believe yoga dates back 5,000 years, based on archaeological evidence of poses found inscribed on stones and references to Yogic teachings in the ancient Hindu scriptures of the Vedas.

In a video footage released by the news agency, ANI, the jawans can be seen enthusiastically performing Yoga at almost 18000 feet above the sea level in Ladakh at -25 degree Celsius. "Your joints and muscles will be stuck up".
