We need worldwide co-operation on climate change, says Gove in Trump attack

"All countries and the European Union, but the United States, agree that the Paris agreement is the only mechanism to advance global action on climate change, that it's irreversible and non-negotiable", Canada's Environment Minister Catherine McKenna told reporters Monday.

Hulot said United States commitments on other environmental issues, notably cleaning up the world's plastic-choked oceans, were not in doubt, and the commitment of industry players to green technologies and renewable energy would not be affected by Trump's position.

Pruitt, who as EPA chief successfully campaigned for the U.S.to quit the Paris climate agreement, was to leave Bologna, Italy, Sunday for a meeting with President Donald Trump, said a spokesman for the G-7 talks, Davide Russo.

Already through the first day of works, however, it was quite clear the rift on climate between the USA and their major allies was much likely to remain unchanged.

The call is included in the final statement taken unanimously at the end of the two-day meeting in the Italian city of Bologna, but without the support of the USA delegation to the chapter on climate change.

Greenpeace's Jennifer Morgan, said: "Paris is non-negotiable and the leadership shown by the G6 countries, along with the cities, states and businesses in the USA in moving the agreement forward swiftly is fundamental".

The Group of Seven countries could not bridge the gap with the USA with regards to the Paris Agreement on climate change at a meeting of its environment ministers which began on Sunday.

President Barack Obama's voluntary USA target under the Paris Agreement was to cut US greenhouse gas emissions by at least 26 percent below 2005 levels by 2025, partly by restricting coal-fired power plants.

Two holdout jurors in Cosby trial
On count one and count three, the juror claimed that the holdouts would not budge, saying they were "not moving, no matter what". A third count, which specifically alleged that Constand was unconscious during the assault, had only one holdout for acquittal.

Italy's Galletti said the United States was looking to take the climate change debate forward on a voluntary basis while Paris was a multilateral accord requiring monitoring, deadlines and transparency. The Environmental Summit being held on Sunday and Monday is scheduled to discuss issues that include climate change, sustainable development, and litter at sea, all important issues to everyone and encompassing more than just the environment, but health and the global economy. In fact, Exxon Mobil, Conoco Phillips and Occidental Petroleum, among others, wanted the United States to remain in the Paris agreement, Bloomberg reported.

When announcing the USA was pulling out of the Paris accord Trump said his administration would begin negotiations either to re-enter the deal or set up a new agreement on "terms that are fair to the United States".

"Today I want the world to know the U.S. will meet our Paris commitment, and through a partnership among cities, states, and businesses, we will seek to remain part of the Paris agreement process".

Prior to his appointment by Trump, the former Oklahoma attorney general also maintained close ties with the fossil fuel industry.

Under the pact, the United States - the world's second biggest carbon emitter behind China - had committed to reduce its emissions by 26-28 percent from 2005 levels by 2025.

Germany and California agreed Saturday to work together to keep the Paris accords on track and the most populous U.S. state had its own representative at the Bologna talks.

"GM will not waver from our commitment to the environment, and our position on climate change has not changed", the company said in a statement.
