Blues trade Reaves to Penguins, Lehtera to Flyers

In a surprising move on Friday evening, the Pittsburgh Penguins dealt the 31st overall pick and forward Oskar Sundqvist to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for forward Ryan Reaves and the 51st overall pick.

Ryan Reaves will be coming to Pittsburgh from the St. Louis Blues.

Reaves, 30, has spent all nine seasons of his career in St. Louis. With just seven goals and 13 points, he's a depth forward with physical presence at the very best.

Teams to no longer lose review for umpire's call
The minimum standards for review system will include the use of accredited ball tracking and edge detection technology. Once the player is sent off, he/she will be prohibited from taking part in the remainder of the game, in all formats.

So the Penguins aren't expecting Reaves to score for them. The year before, Sundqvist, the 81st pick overall in the 2012 draft, had one goal and three assists in 18 games and appeared in two playoff games.

The Penguins' general manager made waves during the Stanley Cup Final when he was quoted by The Hockey News as saying he'd load up his roster with toughness next season to counter opponents' repeated attacks on his star players, powerfully implying that the NHL wasn't doing enough on that front. Kostin was ranked first among European skaters by NHL Central Scouting. The Blues had great success drafting Vladimir Taranseko, another Russian winger, in the first round, so you can see why they're willing to take the gamble on Kostin. The 18-year-old played for Dynamo, Moscow last season and was ranked as the 16th best pick by global scouting services and the number 1 ranked European skater by Central Scouting.
