North Korea torture victim Otto Warmier mourned by thousands at funeral

After a day of meetings with top Chinese officials, Defense Secretary James Mattis and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said the USA and China have made progress on a handful of issues and are pushing ahead on pressuring North Korea - despite President Donald Trump's claim that "it has not worked".

The next few weeks will set the stage for the South Korean president to make his worldwide debut and serve as a litmus test on how the newly elected leader who still enjoys a mid-to-high 70 percent approval rating by the South Korean public will ride the tumultuous waters of diplomacy and global relations for the next five years.

China's Foreign Ministry said earlier on Wednesday that Beijing had made "unremitting efforts" to resolve tensions on the Korean peninsula, not as a result of external pressure but because China was a responsible member of the global community and resolving nuclear issues was in its own interests.

Top leaders from both countries met to discuss what the world's two largest economies would do about their mutual problem of North Korea. Beijing's "end-state in the Korean peninsula in terms of nuclear weapons is the same as ours".

Trump has had high hopes for greater cooperation from China to exert influence over North Korea, leaning heavily on Chinese President Xi Jinping for his assistance.

"While I greatly appreciate the efforts of President Xi & China to help with North Korea, it has not worked out".

A program for the memorial carried a quote from Andy Bernard, a character on the television show The Office: "I wish there was a way to know you're in the good old days before you've actually left them".

Kyrie Irving wants out of Cleveland if LeBron James leaves next summer
Because Griffin is not in charge anymore, Amico suggested that Irving's future in Cleveland is uncertain. Through back channels, Chicago would be one of the places that Irving would be interested to play .

So what did Trump mean by his tweet on Tuesday then?

"What you're seeing, I think, is the American people's frustration with a regime that provokes and provokes and provokes and basically plays outside the rules, plays fast and loose with the truth", he said.

"We see a young man go over there healthy, and with a minor act of mischief come home dead", Mattis said in a joint press conference with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson after briefing on the U.S. He was sentenced to 15 years of hard labour for trying to steal an item bearing a propaganda slogan from his hotel, North Korea state media said. Warmbier was sentenced to 15 years hard labor, but was sent home to OH on June 13 in a coma, dying days after his release, after spending 17 months in captivity.

The Global Times op-ed asserted that the USA has "absurd" expectations for Beijing to solve the issues on the Korean Peninsula and overestimates China's influence on Pyongyang.

"There is no way we can look at a situation like this with any kind of understanding". The US is not party to the convention.

The talks also dealt with issues such as territorial disputes between China and its neighbours in the South China Sea and global counterterrorism efforts. He remained hopeful about future cooperation with China, however. "While competition between our nations is bound to occur, conflict is not inevitable".

Tillerson's visit to Beijing in March was followed by Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the USA three weeks later.
