Jared Kushner meets with Netanyahu during one-day visit to Jerusalem

"Kushner and Greenblatt discussed with President Abbas priorities for the Palestinians and potential next steps, acknowledging the need for economic opportunities for Palestinians and major investments in the Palestinian economy", a White House statement said.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas meets with White House senior advisor Jared Kushner in the West Bank City of Ramallah June 21, 2017.

Trump and Netanyahu held a series of warm encounters during the United States president's visit here last month, and the administration has been markedly milder in its statements about Israeli settlement expansion than the Obama administration.

Jason Greenblatt, Trump's advisor to Israel who is accompanying Kushner on his trip, said previously in an interview with Israel's Army Radio, "It is certainly not Mr. Trump's view that settlement activities should be condemned and that it is an obstacle for peace, because it is not an obstacle for peace".

One source at the meeting was quoted as saying that the two "sounded like representatives of Netanyahu, not honest brokers".

The visit came just after Israel started building its first new settlement in the West Bank in 25 years in defiance of the worldwide law and the latest UN Security Council resolution against the illegal move.

Malka's killing, as part of a coordinated attack by three Palestinian assailants on officers at the Damascus Gate in the Old City, was described by Israeli officials as a terrorist attack.

"They sounded like Netanyahu's advisers and not as honest mediators", a Palestinian source told Haaretz. "After decades, I have the privilege to be the prime minister to build a new community", he said.

USA and China to End North Korea's Nuclear Weapons Program?
Instead, they said it appeared he had suffered severe neurological damage, possibly as a result of cardiopulmonary arrest. Despite the uplifting celebration of his classmate's life, Kraner lamented "a very bright future that we'll never know".

A day after meeting the Americans, Abbas defended payments to Palestinian prisoners, including convicted terrorists, as "social responsibility" and accused Israel of trying to sabotage peace negotiations with unreasonable demands.

Kushner will also travel to Ramallah, in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, for talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. That initiative also alluded to a "right of return" to Israel for millions of Palestinian refugees and their descendants, a demand rejected across the Israeli political spectrum.

President Donald Trump has called it the "deal of the century" and said if Kushner couldn't produce a peace deal, nobody could. "There will never be another Prime Minister who makes propositions to Palestinians like Ehud Olmert did", he added, referring to a 2008 peace proposal introduced by the former prime minister.

"This is the way Netanyahu is meeting Trump's envoys", said Mustafa Barghouti, a Palestinian official.

Trump also received a warm welcome in Saudi Arabia, a potentially key player for Trump's goal of pursuing a region-wide deal. "If the investigations drag on for a long period of time and there begin to be questions raised about the future of his administration, that will contribute to a lessening of his leverage".

Netanyahu has in the past given conditional backing to two states. Is Jared Kushner the Secretary of State?

Palestinian president's spokesperson, Nabil Abu Rudenieh said that during the meeting, Abbas "clearly and accurately discussed all final status issues". It's an "attempt to undermine the efforts of the American administration".

Senior Palestinian officials said the PA leadership was "greatly disappointed" by their meeting with the USA envoys, Ha'aretz reported. On Wednesday, he suggested the naming of reformer Mohammed bin Salman as Saudi crown prince could speed peace and normalisation between the kingdom and Israel.
