Lena Dunham and other celebrities react to Cosby mistrial

The judge in the sexual assault trial of Bill Cosby declared a mistrial Saturday after jurors reported being hopelessly deadlocked after six days of deliberations, bringing an inconclusive end to this phase of one of the highest-profile cases in recent history.

The jurors, who spent 53 hours debating whether Cosby was guilty or innocent, told Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas Judge Steven O'Neill they could not reach unanimous verdicts on whether Cosby was guilty of three counts of aggressive indecent assault against college administrator Andrea Constand at his home near Philadelphia in 2004.

Prosecutors have already confirmed they will retry The Cosby Show star, who sat motionless as the jury returned to the courtroom in Pennsylvania on Saturday, and appeared to frown as Judge O'Neill declared a mistrial in the case.

VETERAN American entertainer Bill Cosby walked home a freeman yesterday after a United States judge declared a mistrial in his sex assault case.

"How do I describe the district attorney?"

Both prosecution and the defense will likely take a hard look at how the case was presented.

NORRISTOWN, Pa. (AP) — In one of the more unusual scenes to play out at Bill Cosby's sexual assault trial, the judge questioned Cosby under oath as jury deliberations wore on to be sure he knew the mistrial he sought could lead to a second trial.

Cosby said in a radio interview before the trial he hoped to resume his performing career after the Constand case was resolved. She sued Cosby in a civil suit and settled for an undisclosed amount in 2006. Heinously and exploitatively ambitious, ' Camille Cosby said in the statement.

James T. Hodgkinson: Alleged Virginia shooter accused of domestic violence in 2006
He had a criminal record, including a 2006 arrest on battery charges, that were later dismissed and multiple traffic violations. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise , a Republican from Louisiana, suffered critical injuries from being shot in the leg.

Cosby had previously admitted to having an affair, McMonagle said, but that was not what he had been on trial for. She later awoke in the middle of the sexual assault as he was groping her, Constand said.

He co-starred in the 1960s espionage show "I Spy", the first black performer to star in a weekly American TV dramatic series. Cosby's trial ended without a verdict.

The jurors clearly struggled with their verdict, telling the judge Thursday they were at impasse. "Overtly arrogant, collaborating with the district attorney", she said in her statement, which was tweeted by her husband and read by an associate of the public relations firm representing Cosby.

Cosby remains on $1 million bail over the three felony charges.

"The defamation case is this clever way of saying, If I say you raped me and you say it didn't happen, then you're defaming me by calling me a liar", he said. "I t's important for the jury to be informed that there are more accusers, and if those accusers allege same or similar facts", she said.

He reminded prosecutors and the defense that "a mistrial is neither vindication nor victory for anybody". Several of them attended the criminal trial with their layers.

Former federal prosecutor David Weinstein said Cosby's celebrity status nearly certainly played a role in the jury's deliberations, perhaps to convince "two or three jurors that it's impossible to convict Dr. Huxtable, to convict Fat Albert. that he couldn't have done this terrible thing".
