Sandberg has no plans to leave Facebook for Uber

28% Of Uber's Lost Customers More Likely To Use Service With CEO Kalanick Gone

Citing unnamed sources, the New York Post reports that Uber's board of directors plans to approach Sheryl Sandberg about taking over as chief executive of the beleaguered ride-sharing firm. Among several interesting finding, the research showed that although poor data is a significant industry issue, only 20% of organizations are now implementing an improvement program. Yet while Kalanick's vision and drive are credited with building Uber into a global concern with a valuation of more than $70 billion, his management style also is blamed for a string of strategy errors and a boorish work culture. (The entire 13-page report and its recommendations, which included minimizing Kalanick's role at the company, can be found here.) In recent weeks, the company has fired more than 20 people, in response to more than 200 complaints. Uber on Monday embarked on a 180-day program to change its image by allowing riders to give drivers tips through the Uber app, something the company had resisted under Kalanick. The U.S. Justice Department is investigating Uber's past usage of phony software created to thwart regulators.

Kalanick's departure widens an already gaping hole at the top of Uber which has no chief operating officer, chief financial officer or general counsel at the moment. It's worth pointing out that Kalanick continues to hold the majority of voting shares, and therefore will have some say in the future of the business regardless.

Kalanick, who helped to launch Uber in 2009, resigned as chief executive this week after shareholders staged a revolt.

How about a double knockout? It was a insane sequence of events at Bellator NYC on a night that was full of odd happenings. Mitrione was forced to withdraw from the original date just hours before the event, due to kidney stones.

Kalanick and other executives were also criticised for the handling of a crisis in India after an Uber driver was arrested for raping a passenger. But Huffington, a founder of Huffington Post, suggested time might be running out. But Uber's ownership and voting structure made it hard to oust him.

Mounting pressure from investors prompted Kalanick to resign Monday night, one week after he announced he would take an unspecified leave of absence from the company to grieve the unexpected loss of his mother.

Gurley, one of Kalanick's closest confidants, praised the CEO on Twitter following his resignation.
