1 killed, several injured in 2-car crash in Sidney

Captain Erik Gonsalves, identified as the pilot, and TSgt.

The incident resulted in the cancellation of the Thunderbirds' Saturday performance at the Dayton Airshow and the Sunday show is tentative.

"Oftentimes if you speculate you will miss what the actual root cause is", Thunderbirds Commander Col. Jason Heard told a news conference. "Our performance at Dayton Air Show is to be determined", one tweet said.

Heard said the pilot suffered some lacerations and injuries to his leg and the other team member had no visible injuries.

"Crowd safety and safety of the Thunderbird team are top priority", Heard said.

Tropical storm Cindy heads inland in Louisiana; one dead in Alabama
A few tornadoes are possible through tonight from the lower MS and Tennessee Valley regions to the central Gulf Coast. None of the injuries were life-threatening, said Nick Dyer, police chief in Fairfield, where one tornado hit.

The 43rd annual show will include a U.S. Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet, an F-35 Lightning II and the Misty Blues All Woman Skydiving Team.

A military jet in the Air Force Thunderbird demonstration squadron apparently practicing for an upcoming OH air show has been involved in an accident, authorities said.

Emhoff said the show will go on as planned Saturday minus the Thunderbirds. They use the F-16 Fighting Falcon to perform aerial acrobatics and formation flying at air shows across the world.

Thankfully both men made it out alive, and Cordova has already been released from the hospital, although Gonsalves was still being cared for as of yesterday.

Authorities say a military jet apparently practicing for an OH air show has been involved in an accident. "Both teammates were extremely courageous during the extraction and we'd like to thank Wright-Patterson Crash and Recovery, Dayton International Fire Rescue, local police, medical personnel and team members on scene for their incredible recovery efforts".
