Golf roundup: Daniel Berger repeats as St. Jude Classic champion

Stewart Cink shares the lead at the St. Jude Classic with three others after Thursday's opening round

Berger played a bogey-free round on Sunday, avoiding trouble on a fast, firm course at TPC Southwind.

It was the second PGA Tour victory for 24-year-old Berger, who joins Dave Hill, Lee Trevino and David Toms as back-to-back winners in Memphis. "It is nice to play well, but yeah, they don't hand out trophies after the first round".

It was a further stroke back to two-time US Open champion Retief Goosen of South Africa and Chez Reavie.

Spaniard Rafael Cabrera Bello, joint overnight leader, finished a tie for fourth with Billy Horschel, Braden Thornberry, Chez Reavie and Kevin Chappell.

"The key to my round today was the key to anyone's round who plays well here and that is you've got to keep the ball in front of you", said the 44-year-old.

"I don't want to think about the results because when you start thinking results, you never perform your best", Mickelson said Wednesday.

South Korean Kim Meen-whee has set a new career high on the PGA Tour with a runner-up finish. "I didn't expect to be there at that moment", Mickelson said.

Scott, meanwhile, was closer to the cut line than the lead for much of the day, but he stormed home with an eagle and two birdies in the final five holes to jump to equal 11th.

European - Felipe Aguilar of Chile shot a 7-under 65 to build a two-stroke lead over a group of three in the opening round of the Lyoness Open in Atzenbrugg, Austria. Jutanugarn shot 3-under 69 and was tied with Thompson (72) and Chun (70) at 17-under 271.

Phil Mickelson made a dramatic charge and grabbed a share of the lead following his fifth birdie of the day at No. 10, but he doused his momentum and his chances with a triple bogey at the par-4 12th.

"I'm one-for-one defending titles, so that's a pretty good stat", said Berger, who claimed his first and previously only PGA tour victory at last year's St Jude Classic. Perrine Delacour (62) and Lindy Duncan (65) were one shot back.

Jobe shot a 69 in the final round to snap a winless drought that had stretched back to 1998, when he took first in a tournament in Japan.

Marco Dawson and Stephen Ames finished at 207.
