GOP is hiding something in Senate health-care bill

Trump's optimism runs counter to the public opposition of five Republican senators so far to the Senate GOP plan that would scuttle much of former President Barack Obama's health law.

Sen. Rand Paul, one of the key Republicans senators in the ongoing health care battle, said on Sunday that his party has "promised too much" with trying to fix the health care system and assuring that the cost of premiums will be lowered.

Obama, in a statement late this week, said the plan would "raise costs, reduce coverage, roll back protections, and ruin Medicaid as we know it", citing the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, which found that 23 million Americans would lose insurance.

Trump has consistently made dramatic promises about health care - including that he would sign into law a bill to provide "insurance for everybody" and that he would not sign off on cuts to programs like Medicaid - that Republican legislators have not achieved in their Obamacare repeal effort.

President Trump spent part of his Saturday at Trump National Golf Club but had healthcare on his mind.

A handful of Senate Republicans are meeting in secret to craft a bill to replace the Affordable Care Act.

In a lengthy Facebook post, Obama said there is a "fundamental meanness at the core" of both the Senate's and House's health care legislation.

Democrats and other critics of the Senate GOP measure said the bill's feature phasing out costly aspects of Medicaid over time could eventually strip millions of low-income earners of health insurance.

Lewis Hamilton , who had started the race in pole position, failed to secure a podium position - finishing the race in fifth. Stewards allowed Jolyon Palmer of the Renault F1 team to participate in the Formula 1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix .

"This bill may change, but Republicans will only be putting lipstick on a devastating blow to Americans' health care", said Sen. Unless those holdouts can be swayed, their numbers are more than enough to torpedo the measure developed in private by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and deliver a bitter defeat for the president.

"I can not imagine that these very fine Republican Senators would allow the American people to suffer a broken ObamaCare any longer!" he wrote.

If three Republicans defect, the party can not reach the majority vote it needs to pass the measure.

"It's going to be very hard to get me to a yes", he said, noting that conservative Republican senators would likely be reluctant to add spending back to the measure.

But the Senate bill preserves a more popular piece of Obamacare: the requirement that insurance companies cover everyone, even those with pre-existing medical conditions.

The Senate bill also calls for a tighter cap on federal spending in Medicaid overall than the House bill did. "Let's have the integrity to show the American people what it is, show them the truth". They eventually won a number of concessions to the final version of the bill that passed.

Call your senators and ask them to consider the impact of any new bill on the health of our people and our economy.
