North Korean soldier defects to South Korea across MDL: JCS

President Moon Jae-in conducts an interview with “CBS This Morning” on the Blue House grounds on Tuesday

South Korea marked the anniversary of the start of the 1950-53 Korean War on Sunday with a call for the North to halt development of its missiles and nuclear programmes.

"We are more than willing to talk about the ideas that he is proposing because the Olympic is always willing to build bridges and bringing down walls".

"The South Korean government will do whatever it can" for that goal, Moon said, while calling on the International Olympic Committee and Chang for support for the initiative.

THAAD was approved by Moon's ousted predecessor, conservative president Park Geun-Hye, who then steamrollered the project through a hasty environmental review during her last months in office as she became ensnared in a massive corruption scandal.

In April, North Korea unveiled what could be a new ICBM at a giant military parade in a show of strength.

In return, North Korea warned the USA about its recent military drills with South Korea as well as its missile defense system, the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system (THAAD), installed in South Korea in April.

North Korea has yet to say if it will be at the Pyeongchang Games. When the South hosted the 1988 Summer Olympics, in Seoul, the North boycotted it. He had been held by North Korea for 18 months and was released last week in a coma with brain damage. Chang arrived in South Korea with a delegation from the International Taekwondo Federation ahead of the World Taekwondo Federation's World Taekwondo Championships in Muju, 240 kilometers south of Seoul.

Werner evaded Adolphe Teikeu to meet a cross from Kimmich and open his global account with his stooping header. Joachim Loew reached the milestone of 100 wins in his 150th global as Germany's head coach.

The US, South Korea and Japan are ramping up capabilities to defend against the threat from North Korea.

The report comes not long after the death of Otto Warmbier, a U.S. student who was detained in North Korea after allegedly attempting to steal a propaganda poster from the hotel where he staying. The latest series of tests conducted by North Korea have raised fears that North Korea plans to attack South Korea, Japan, and US military installations in the Pacific.

The two Koreas made a joint entrance in the 2000 Summer Sydney Olympics but never formed a united team for the global sporting event.

Kim recently took the bold step of assassinating his half brother, Kim Jong Nam, in Malaysia, possibly to head off an outside attempt to install a new Kim governement in North Korea. The North and South remain bitter political and sports rivals.

Calling North Korea the "top security threat" to the United States, Tillerson said China had a "diplomatic responsibility to exert much greater economic and diplomatic pressure on the regime if they want to prevent further escalation in the region".

"We may be different federations but we are one family", Choue said.
