Obama slams Senate GOP health care bill

Dean Heller became the fifth GOP senator to say he would not support the measure in its current form.

Discussing the bill, which aims to repeal Obamacare, Obama had said on Thursday in a post on social media: "The Senate bill, unveiled today, is not a health care bill".

Paul said Friday "I want the bill to look more like a repeal bill". Immediately after it was made public, a group of four conservative senators expressed opposition to it, claiming it didn't go far enough in repealing Obamacare.

"We are encouraged that the draft Senate legislation funds cost-sharing reductions, which help those who need it most", BCBSA said in a statement. The U.S. Senate worked behind closed doors to draft legislation that could change the future of health care in America.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell insists he wants a vote before the Fourth of July recess, leaving GOP leaders one week to win over more votes. And because California is a high-cost state, premiums and deductibles are likely to spike for some middle-class families.

The CBO said it would issue an assessment of the bill early this week. Still President Trump says it's a work in progress. "I think we're going to get there", he said.

Another senator who has announced that he does not support the current version of the bill, Rand Paul of Kentucky, said he would back it if the Senate reached an impasse on healthcare.

Jameson Taillon threw 104 pitches in six innings, both highs since coming back from testicular cancer surgery on June 12. This was Farrell's first ejection of the 2017 season, there will surely be a few more as the season goes on.

The GOP-controlled Senate bill introduced Thursday would phase out federal money to states which opted to expand the low-income health insurance program.

The Senate bill includes big cuts to Medicaid over a period of time, eliminates taxes on the wealthy and insurers, and does not let insurers deny people coverage based on pre-existing conditions. The Trump White House keeps talking about making government more "transparent". That likely would end the program in MI, one of eight states that expanded Medicaid with the caveat that the expansion would end if federal funding declined. The Affordable Care Act took a year and a half to craft, with much debate adn amendments at the request of Republicans.

"I'm not saying just kill the bill", Kasich said.

Five Republican senators - including Ted Cruz - threatened "NO" votes.

"The chaos the Republican Party is wrecking across our health care system won't just be felt in our insurance markets but in doctor's offices, ER's and clinics across the state of in", says Myers.

House Republicans barely managed to muster enough votes with a series of last-minute amendments before the chamber passed a highly criticized Obamacare replacement plan last month.
