Australia fought back to draw 1-1 with Cameroon in the Confederations Cup on Thursday, a result that further dents both countries' hopes of progressing in the eight-team tournament in Russian Federation. An outcome that seems nearly certainly beyond this honest but, in this company at least, limited team. After a 1-1 draw, that's looking unlikely for both sides.

"There's certainly progression there, and they didn't give up".

"The chances were there but we didn't score and then you can't win the game".

On 20 minutes, Rogic found space in the attacking third of the pitch with a neat turn, fed the impressive Gersbach down the left, his cross just beyond the diving Juric when the goal beckoned.

The Australians' two outings in Russian Federation to date have produced an inconsistent showing against Germany and a draw with Cameroon.

Ange Postecoglou's side played without spark against the African champions but earned a point when Mark Milligan converted a penalty to cancel out Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa's first-half finish. Zambo Anguissar raced on to the pass as Mat Ryan came out in an attempt to sweep up, but the goalkeeper got caught in no man's land and allowed the striker to deftly touch it past him and in.

Cameroon goalkeeper Fabrice Ondoa, Australia's Tim Cahill and Cameroon's Adolphe Teikeu contest the ball.

Azerbaijan Grand Prix: Greed almost cost me, says Lewis Hamilton
The safety vehicle made an appearance at the Azerbaijan GP on lap 15 with Hamilton in the lead and Vettel behind the Mercedes . When the critics were speculating over how he got a seat in Formula One , teenager Lance Stroll simply ignored them.

Aboubakar had two chances to make amends for his earlier miss, but under pressure from Degenek, he couldn't convert Bassogog's cross, and he also headed another delivery over.

"This is the life of a front player", said Cameroon coach Hugo Broos, whose team is in Russian Federation because Aboubakar scored an 88th-minute goal against Egypt to clinch the African title in February.

With three matches in seven days and substantial travel between venues, Postecoglou said "it doesn't make sense to keep going in with the same XI" as he plots a route to the semi-finals that, in all likelihood, will require wins over both the African Champions and Chile in Moscow three days later.

The first of the two assignments appears on paper to be an more manageable prospect, though Postecoglou insisted the team were not taking Cameroon lightly, after having watched them during their successful Africa Cup of Nations campaign earlier in the year.

The Soceroos were then awarded a penalty on the hour mark when Alex Gersbach was brought down.

Tomi Juric endured a tough night at the office, unable to hold the ball up well enough in the first period.

Massimo Luongo is likely to come out of central midfield, where Aaron Mooy or Jackson Irvine could come in or Jimmy Jeggo could debut.
