Sweat, NYCFC top Red Bulls 2-0 in Hudson River Derby

And although the Red Bulls got the upper hand in their win against NYCFC in the U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, the end result under Saturday's sweltering sun was much different. NYCFC outshot the Red Bulls 13-10, had six shots on goal to just one for NY and garnered a 67-59 advantage in duals won.

Jack Harrison got the party started in the 33rd minute when he found some space in the center of the box and sent a curling shot past Luis Robles.

The visitors in blue didn't just beat the Red Bulls, they thoroughly outplayed them for the majority of the match, creating the more risky chances and stifling the few attacking threats the their hosts were able to muster.

The 2-0 victory was NYCFC's second such, as they defeated the Red Bulls by the same score at Yankee Stadium previous year. The remaining nine shots from the Red Bulls were either wide of the target or blocked away by a swarm of blue-shirted defenders.

Frogs beat Gators, force another final
Papierski sat on Bryce Fehmel's 3-1 pitch right down the middle and sent it into the right field bleachers to give LSU a 3-0 lead. What TV channel is the 2017 College World Series Final on? "Really just trying to keep them off balance as much as possible".

Harrison scored his seventh goal of the season to give NYCFC the lead in the 34th minute.

NYCFC had the superior quality, but also the superior work rate, which isn't something you don't often say of visiting teams at Red Bull Arena. "I believe if you want to win football matches you have to match the competitiveness of the other team and i think today we did it brilliantly".

Sweat added an important insurance goal in the 65th minute when he snuck behind the Red Bulls defense on a free kick from near-midfield by Alexander Ring and headed a ball over the head of Robles and completely across the goalmouth before finding the left side of net. For Sweat, it was his first goal in MLS. "It was a matter of them making a couple more plays than we were able to make on the day and being a little more up for the challenge".

There was no sense of panic for the Red Bulls, with Marsch doing his best to try and downplay how thoroughly his team was outplayed on Saturday.
