Kate Middleton Wore Princess Diana's Favorite Tiara Once Again

The Spanish royals greet the British royals on the third day of their state visit

And, oh yes, this evening marked one of the latter, as the British royal family opened up Buckingham Palace for a state banquet, this year in honor of the visiting Spanish head of state.

According to The Sun, Diana had received it as a wedding gift from the Queen in 1981 - and reportedly suffered headaches when wearing it because it was so heavy.

Wearing a tiara once owned by Princess Diana, the Duchess of Cambridge has turned heads in London at a state dinner for the Spanish royals.

Instead of a casual hairdo, Kate opted to knot her hair up and adorn the famous Knot Tiara, which is known to be one of Diana's favourites. However, Kate Middleton managed to stand out with some help from her deceased mother-in-law, Princess Diana.

The Duchess paired her tiara with a heavy necklace that nearly succeeded in drawing attention away the v-shaped neckline on her Marchesa dress - which may be the most plunging one she's worn yet!

The pièce de résistance of Kate's look, though, was the diamond and pearl Cambridge Lover's Knot tiara.

The guest of honour Queen Letizia offset her lovely red gown with a diamond tiara, while the Queen wore a matching tiara and necklace made from gifts she'd received early in her reign, People reports.

Princess Diana wore the tiara in Italy in 1985.

The Duchess wore the tiara for an event a year ago.

Queen Letizia wore a floor-length scarlet red gown, with an off-the-shoulder neckline.

The duchess first wore a glittering headpiece during her 2011 wedding to Prince William, and then in 2013 to a white-tie reception. The diamond and ruby necklace she wore tonight is one that Queen Elizabeth has been photographed in many times over the years.
