Britain's young royals begin tour of Poland and Germany

On Monday evening, Prince William will make his only public speech during a formal dinner in honour of Queen Elizabeth II at the Royal Łazienki park, while the British ambassador to Poland will read a letter from the British monarch. This is the first official visit of the entire family gathered in these countries.

They will head to Heidelberg and Berlin on Wednesday, and will visit Hamburg on Friday.

William and Kate's trip is being taken at the request of their Foreign and Commonwealth Office as part of a diplomacy tour.

A Kensington Palace spokesman said: "The Duke and Duchess are very much looking forward to this tour and are delighted with the exciting and varied programme that has been put together for it".

In Germany, William and Kate are planning to meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel, visit Berlin's Brandenburg Gate, enjoy a traditional beer garden in Heidelberg and pay a somber visit to Berlin's Holocaust Memorial.

Her 3-year-old brother, Prince George sported a plaid button-down shirt with navy shorts for the occasion and was seen holding his father's hand as he curiously looked around. Even while carrying Charlotte, the royal expertly navigated the plane steps in her favorite nude high heels, while William held onto three-year-old Prince George, who at first seemed reluctant to disembark from the plane but later gained his confidence back.

The duke and duchess, who was wearing a white Alexander McQueen skirt suit, met Poland's president, Andrzej Duda, and first lady, Agata Kornhauser-Duda, at the Presidential Palace then took in a tour of Warsaw's Krakowskie Przedmieście street.

They will visit the Warsaw Rising Museum, dedicated to the 1944 Polish uprising to liberate Warsaw from German occupation during World War Two.

In Poland, they will tour the former Stutthof concentration camp where 65,000 people died, and tour the site of Gdansk's shipyards, the birthplace of Poland's Solidarity movement that helped topple Communist rule.
