McConnell defers vote on Senate health care bill

Sen. John McCain R-Ariz. leaves a meeting of GOP senators in the U.S. capitol on June 22 when most Republican senators were given their first opportunity to look at legislation aimed at overhauling the Affordable Care Act during the closed door meeting

Senator John McCain's message to U.S. allies confused by mixed messages from the White House on foreign policy was that, "sometimes it's important to watch what the President does rather than what he says".

The Senate will postpone its vote on President Trump's health care bill - originally scheduled for this week - while Sen.

That news came soon after McCain's office released word that the Arizona Republican would likely be staying in Arizona, instead of returning to Washington on Monday because of the discovery of the blood clot.

Sen. John McCain's absence from the Senate next week as he recovers from surgery for a blood clot could complicate the GOP's prospects for advancing health care legislation already on the brink.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell confirmed the move on Saturday night, reports a news agency. A number of other Republicans including Senators Shelley Moore Capito of West Virginia, Dean Heller of Nevada, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Rob Portman of OH, have also expressed serious reservations about the bill in its current form.

New 'Blade Runner 2049' Trailer Hits The Web
So I made peace with that. "I'll be there if you need me, otherwise I'll be away, '" Villeneuve said . The new trailer for the only sequel that matters this year has arrived.

Two Republican senators - Rand Paul of Kentucky and Susan Collins of ME - have said they will not vote yes to even proceed to the bill.

McCain had announced earlier on Saturday that he would not be in the Senate next week, depriving Republicans of a key vote.

McCain's absence could cause the Republican leadership to delay a procedural vote on a health care bill, as they will need 50 Republican senators to vote in support of moving on to the bill. In recent days GOP leaders have expressed optimism that they were getting closer to a version that could pass the Senate. His office said the clot was discovered during an annual physical and removed Friday at the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix.

"The Senator is resting comfortably at home and is in good condition". "Once the pathology information is available, further care will be discussed between doctors and the family". "On the advice of his doctors, Senator McCain will be recovering in Arizona next week", said McCain spokeswoman Julie Tarallo.

Fellow Arizona Republican Sen. "In the meantime, Cheryl and I extend our best wishes to John, Cindy and the entire McCain family and pray for his speedy recovery".
