NASA's spectacular flyover video transports you to Pluto

Get a look at what the surface of Pluto and its moon Charon really look like

A flight over Pluto shows the highlands and the planet's nitrogen icy plain, Sputnik Planitia. The clips shared by NASA provide a glimpse of the complex terrain of Pluto. But after years of debate, the International Astronomical Union demoted Pluto to the rank of a dwarf planet in 2006, reducing the total number of planets in the solar system to eight.

In July 2015, when New Horizons sent the first close-up pictures of Pluto and its moon, NASA said in a statement, it inspired many to wonder "what a flight over the distant worlds' icy terrain might be like".

First, New Horizons made an encounter with Jupiter on 2007. The flyover shows the cratered terrain of Cthulhu Macula, with the blocky mountain ranges located within the plains seen on the right. The 2015 flyby collected more than 1,200 images-including a striking image of a heart-shaped formation on the dwarf planet's surface-and 10 gigabits of data. Some astronomers believe there may be a mysterious Planet Nine in the outer reaches of the solar system, but its existence has not yet been confirmed.

The scientists used the actual New Horizon data and the new advanced elevation models of Pluto planet together with its biggest moon, Charon, to produce stunning movies that gives spectacular new outlook of many unusual features that were discovery earlier. The agency published maps of both the planet and the moon.

The flyby also found that all five of Pluto's moons are the same age, and thus were likely formed in the same impact incident between Pluto and other celestial object billions of years ago. Transparent, colorized stereo topography data generated for the encounter hemispheres of Pluto and Charon have been overlain on the mosaics.

At least 8 dead in Arizona flash flooding
Four people were rescued by helicopter crews Saturday and were treated at a nearby hospital for hypothermia. Visitors are reminded to be vigilant about the weather, he said. "We got a lot worse news".

New Horizon has proven to be successful in the accomplishment of its unique goal. However, its work in space isn't over yet.

The space probe is now venturing further into the Kuiper Belt, a huge area containing "objects", mostly composed of ice.

The spacecraft will on January 1, 2019 will get closer to a Kuiper Belt object known as 2014 MU69, NASA said.

The flyby by New Horizons - which is now approaching the edge of the galaxy - also revealed that the dwarf planet is slightly larger than scientists originally thought.
