Texans rookie RB D'Onta Foreman arrested on drug, weapon charges

Baylor v Texas

Texans rookie RB, 3rd round pick D'Onta Foreman was arrested early Sunday morning at 3am in Austin according to Brian Davis of the Austin American Statesman.

The officers "responded to a report of the smell of marijuana coming from three occupied vehicles near the southwest side of San Jacinto residence hall on campus", the statement read.

Foreman's attorney says Foreman didn't use or possess marijuana in the incident.

Foreman was arrested on charges of unlawful carrying of a weapon and marijuana possession, both misdemeanors.

The Texans said the organization was aware of the situation and is gathering additional information, according to a statement.

Najib: Malaysia condemns Israel's closure of Al-Aqsa Mosque
Several knives were reportedly discovered at the compound when it was searched by the security forces over the weekend. It said Waqf staff wouldn't be returning to the compound as well, the Jerusalem Post reported .

The Austin American-Statesman broke the news and has a statement from police.

He was arrested by the University of Texas police department at about 3 a.m.

Lewis said his client, while leaving his vehicle was approached by the police and told police prior to them searching his vehicle that his handgun was inside the vehicle, which was his. When it comes to the gun, the attorney says Foreman told police about it before they performed a search of his auto. The other occupants of each vehicle were charged with possession of marijuana and released. Foreman's attorney claims the gun is legally registered and was properly secured in his vehicle. Upon making his bond, he will submit to urinalysis and confirm he has not used marijuana.

It's unclear how the Texans or National Football League will view all of this.

D'Onta appreciates the professionalism of the officers involved in his arrest and in his booking at the Travis County Jail. In 2016, he rushed for 2,028 and 15 touchdowns while averaging 6.3 yards per carry.
