Watchdog Getting Mar-a-Lago Visitor Logs, Vows to Release to Public

Trump shown in April with Chinese President Xi Jinping has conducted government business at Mar-a Lago during at least seven weekends since becoming president

In April, CREW, along with the National Security Archive and Knight First Amendment Institute at Columbia University, sued the Trump administration for access to visitor records at the White House, Trump Tower, and Mar-a-Lago, amid increasing concerns over the White House's silence on whether it would make such documents public.

President Donald Trump has made seven visits to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, and in September, the public might get a look at who else was there with him. We'll be making them public.

CREW on Monday announced that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will turn over visitor logs to Trump's property by September 8 as part of ongoing litigation with the group, who in turn will make them public. Club members are required to give the front desk advance warning before guests arrive, but visitors are not required to give personal information, like their middle initial or social security number, which are required for most visitor logs.

Procter & Gamble faces board seat fight from Trian Fund Management
P&G said in a statement that it's maintained an active dialogue with Trian, but that it's sticking with its current strategy. With a market capitalization of $223 billion, P&G would be the largest company to face a board seat proxy fight.

The lawsuit, filed in January in the Southern District of NY, alleges Trump is violating the Constitution's emoluments clause whenever foreign entities lease Trump real estate or pay to stay at the Trump Hotel in Washington, D.C. The suit for the White House visitor logs is ongoing. The records were released in long lists that failed to note why the visitors were there. In just his first 100 days, he spent almost a quarter of his time at his beach side resort in Florida.

Shortly after CREW filed its lawsuit, the Trump administration announced it would not be releasing the visitor logs specifically from the White House. Since then, and as the weather has gotten warmer in New York and New Jersey, the President has switched up his private retreats and often spends weekends in his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club, or in his New York City residence in Trump Tower.
