Antonio Callaway pleads no contest to marijuana charge

Florida WR Callaway gets plea deal in marijuana case

The receiver was cited on May 13 in Gainesville.

On Monday, Florida star receiver Antonio Callaway pled no contest to possession of paraphernalia and was fined $301, Alachua State Attorney Bill Cervone told the Orlando Sentinel.

Last week, at SEC Media Days, Florida coach Jim McElwain wouldn't even speculate on the rising junior's status for the season opener against MI.

Callway has been facing two misdemeanor drug charges: possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of drug equipment as a result of a traffic stop.

James Murdoch joins Tesla's board after pressure from investors
Tesla Inc. said on Monday that it had appointed two new directors to its board, including Twenty-First Century Fox Inc. The move comes after Telsa, founded in 2003, has been criticized for lacking independent directors on its board.

Callaway has had several off-field incidents during his time in Gainesville.

Callaway was cited for marijuana possession (fewer than 20 grams) while he was a passenger in the auto of Kendrick Williams, a 40-year-old Gainesville man with a history of brushes with the law.

The issue arose when police searched a parked auto Callaway and others were sitting in after smelling marijuana.

He was previously suspended last spring for sexual battery allegations, no word has been said on his status for the season opener. Coach Jim McElwain hasn't said, and I don't expect him to say anything until the week of the game. Callaway admitted to smoking marijuana in those court documents, although he was eventually cleared of the allegation by a Title IX investigation.
