The Brazilian-Polish men's doubles pair of Marcelo Melo and Lukasz Kubot took a marathon five sets to overcome Austrian-Croatian pair of Oliver Marach and Mate Pavic in the final of the Wimbledon Tennis Championships.

The match had to be finished under the Centre Court floodlights with play suspended at 11-11 in the evening gloom for the roof to be closed.

Following the men's doubles title match that ran for a gruelling four hours and 40 minutes, it was quickfire fare in the last final of the day. It took them almost four and half hours to beat the Austrian and Croat pair.

It gave Vesnina and Makarova a third grand slam title together, and a first at Wimbledon. Two years ago the Russian pair made it to the final but lost to Switzerland's Martina Hingis and India's Sania Mirza in three sets, 5-7, 7-6, 7-5.
