Gardner's walk-off lifts Yanks past Rays

It was some kind of start to a series Joe Girardi beforehand called "really important".

New York Yankees rookie Aaron Judge was caught in the crossfire of a loose helmet Thursday amidst a celebration following Brett Gardner's walk-off homer against the Tampa Bay Rays.

So this four-game series at Yankee Stadium is a significant one.

Earning the Ace pitcher title Luis Severino pitched six shutout innings before giving up two earned runs while Didi Gregorius hammered his the third straight home runs taking the Yankees to a 9-5 victory over the Reds on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium.

Joe Girardi was ejected for the third time this season for arguing balls and strikes in the seventh.

. Aaron Judge was 1-for-5. He struck out 10, including Frazier and Tyler Wade with the bases loaded to finish his outing. Chase Headley had three hits. Pinch hitter Matt Holliday, now 7-for-54 in the second half, hit into a 6-4 force that brought in Gregorius to make it 5-4.

Trump's Top Middle East Adviser Removed From Position
The White House would not say whether Harvey was sacked , but confirmed he will no longer serve as the top Middle East adviser. Harvey also supported a more bellicose Iran strategy than either Tillerson or Secretary of Defense James Mattis.

Todd Frazier followed that up with an RBI single. That was the final inning for Archer, who gave up eight hits and struck out 10.

Gardner started the ninth-inning rally against Alex Colome, who was looking for his 30th save, with a leadoff triple to left-center. Up came Judge, who skied to short right, sucking much of the air from the crowd.

Jacoby Ellsbury and Todd Frazier collected RBIs in the second inning off Chris Archer, and Sanchez homered off the right-hander in the third for the early advantage. Rays second baseman Tim Beckham and shortstop Adeiny Hechavarria both stopped going for it, thinking the other one had it. There seemed to be miscommunication between the two and neither went for the ball, which bounced past them as Gardner scored to tie it.

But Sabathia then gave up back-to-back doubles to Hechavarria and Peter Bourjos to slice the Yankees' lead to 3-2. Tampa Bay totaled eleven hits and five walks with Evan Longoria and Corey Dickerson slamming solo homers while Brad Miller recorded knocked in two.
