OJ Simpson Is Not Welcome On USC's Campus After Parole

05 December 2008 OJ Simpson appears in court during his sentencing hearing on 12 felony counts in Las Vegas Nevada. Simpson received a minimum of 9 years in prison for charges ranging from assault with a deadly weapon to robbery and kidnapping

USC AthleticsClay Helton is entering his second full season as USC head coach.

Despite efforts to distance itself from Simpson following the "trial of the century", USC still features Simpson in its 2017 media guide including in the "Heisman Trophy" section and his number 32 has been retired by the program.

Simpson is due to be released from prison on October 1. He racked up 36 touchdowns and more than 3,400 rushing yards in just two years.

Republican lawmakers rally around Sessions as Trump intensifies pressure
Dianne Feinstein, Calif., the ranking Democrat of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said, "What's happening is just bad ". John McCain, R-Ariz., wondered "How we can stop the president from firing the people he appointed I don't know".

Simpson, who starred at running back for the Trojans, was once welcomed to a practice by then-coach Pete Carroll almost 10 years after being acquitted of murder - and before his conviction for robbery and kidnapping that put him in prison for nine years until his parole was granted earlier this month. It all goes back to the misguided notion that status as one of the all-time greats in football should be confined only to what happens on the football field, without regard to anything the player has done in any other setting. But Helton added he would be "cordial" to Simpson if he met him.

USC coach Clay Helton said Simpson will not be part of any events or football activities in the future, even though Simpson won the Heisman Trophy at USC in 1968.
