Russian Federation calls U.S. source of danger

Russia calls US sanctions vote 'serious step' toward wrecking chances of improved ties

Speaking just before the Senate passed the bill, Republican Senator John McCain, a leading congressional voice calling for a firm line against Russian Federation said: "The United States of America needs to send a strong message to Vladimir Putin and any other aggressor that we will not tolerate attacks on our democracy".

The Senate Judiciary Committee said on Tuesday it wanted Paul Manafort, a former campaign manager for Trump, to appear at a hearing as part of its investigation.

He also stated that Russian Federation had previously warned the Trump administration it would mount a response if USA lawmakers passed the bill. It is expected to garner strong support in the Senate, despite concerns about it from Trump.

Even if Trump does veto the legislation, though, Congress has more than enough votes in each chamber to override it.

Earlier this week, the White House simply said it was reviewing the bill, "and awaits a final legislative package for the president's desk".

Corker and other senators want to include congressional review over North Korean sanctions, similar to the provision in the current bill that gives Congress veto power over easing Russian Federation sanctions.

Ryabkov called the result of the vote "predicted" and said that the sanctions bill would soon be approved by the US Senate.

'Outrageous': Democrat Slams Antisemitic Sermon by California Imam
The terrorist who committed these murders could very well point to Imam Shahin's sermon as justification for his murders. Shahin was accused of calling for the death of all Jews and asking Allah to free the Al Asqa Mosque from their "filth".

It also imposes new sanctions on Iran's ballistic missile program, its Revolutionary Guard network, and goes after North Korea's shipping industry as well as its nuclear and ballistic missile programs. "At that point, it is incumbent upon President Trump to immediately sign this legislation into law, or risk endorsing Moscow's interference in future elections", he said.

The White House is also said to be particularly concerned over a provision in the new bill which would limit President Trump's ability to lift the sanctions. She did not say whether Trump would sign or veto the measure.

With near unanimous support in both chambers of Congress, this legislation sends a strong signal to Iran, Russia and North Korea that U.S. will stand firm and united in the face of their destabilising behaviour, said Senator Bob Corker, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

"I believe an easing of tensions, and improved relations with Russian Federation from a position of strength only, is possible, absolutely possible", Trump said previous year at a campaign speech in Washington.

"We stand with patience in the face of the sanctions, but the time we will have to respond to this rudeness is closing", Putin added.

The administration officials and advisers demanded anonymity to discuss the private sanctions deliberations.
