Dems demand answers on controversial Google memo

It is how Google's diversity and Bias Training will Resemble like

A Google spokesperson said Tuesday that the company could not have retaliated because it was unaware of his labor complaint until reading about it in the media after his dismissal.

The board declined to comment. Susan Wojcicki, the C.E.O. of YouTube, which is owned by Google parent company Alphabet, wrote in an op-ed Wednesday that she "felt pain" because of Damore's memo, and asked whether his argument would make sense were it applied to minority groups or other underrepresented groups in tech.

- The Google campus on Thursday morning was buzzing with activity ahead of the "town hall" meeting to be hosted by Google's CEO.

The former engineer titled his memo "Google's Ideological Echo Chamber", which attacked the company's diversity initiatives and argued that biological differences play a role in the seeming lack of women in leadership roles within the tech industry. New head of diversity Danielle Brown explained over the weekend that while open dialogue is important to Google, it can only exist within the principles of equal employment. She said change is hard and "often uncomfortable". But it also asserts that women "prefer jobs in social and artistic areas" while more men "may like coding because it requires systemizing". Despite their adulation, Damore says he doesn't associate with the right.

Meanwhile, Damore's memo appears to have fuelled the internal strife among Google's female employees.

US PGA Championship 2017
This will be the 98th PGA Championship and the 101st year of existence. "It plays on your mind a little bit", he said. Maybe he'll prove me wrong (he probably will!), but I'm out on Spieth completing the Slam this week at Quail Hollow .

He also said that the employees who had supported him have also been contacted by Google's Human Resources - a claim Google has denied.

The Twitter hashtag #JamesDamore was drawing a storm of opinions both attacking Damore for his memo and his qualifications as an engineer, and criticizing Google for his dismissal.

Many conservatives were quick to uphold Damore as evidence that Silicon Valley liberalism has gone too far.

Meanwhile, more than 60 women may sue Google, alleging gender discrimination, sexism and pay disparities. "The whole point of my memo was to actually improve Google ... and they just punished me and shamed me for doing it".
