Mets trade Bruce to Indians

Mets trade Bruce to Indians

A person familiar with the deal says the Cleveland Indians have agreed to acquire outfielder Jay Bruce from the New York Mets.

Jay Bruce is reportedly headed back to the state of OH, but not Cincinnati.

Bruce is in the final year of his contract, and is enjoying a fantastic season. The 30-year-old is hitting.258 this season with 29 HR and 75 RBI.

There had been some speculation earlier in the season that the Indians may have had an interest in Bruce, but nothing materialized by the non-waiver trade deadline.

WMATA had initially advertised Yiannopoulos' book, Dangerous , but removed the ads after complaints. In addition, an ad for an abortion pill and PETA's "Go Vegan" ads were also turned away by Metro.

With Bruce gone, the Mets can start either Conforto or Granderson in right field. His previous career high in home runs for a single season was 34, which he hit with the Cincinnati Reds in 155 games during the 2012 season. He tallied 37 homers. The Mets are long shots to make the playoffs and are trying to fortify a middle-of-the-pack farm system. And when seeing what was given up, this trade looks great regardless. But this trade shows the front office wants experienced talent on the team as winning the World Series remains the only goal. And if both return, Bruce will still receive plenty of playing time.

Ryan was a 30th-round draft pick by the Indians in 2016 out of the University of North Carolina.

The Mets begin a four-game set with the Phillies on Thursday before playing the Yankees in the Subway Series starting next Monday.
