Uber Executive Ryan Graves to Step Down in Management Shakeup

It’s looking bleak

Ryan Graves, Uber Technologies Inc.'s first hire, said he would step aside from his daily role as senior vice president of operations, the latest shake-up in the ride-hailing company's top management.

Graves has worked at Uber for over seven years in several positions, including GM and CEO for a time.

Uber's executive suite is practically deserted. Graves was one of the first employees at Uber and is a significant shareholder. The company is looking for a new chief executive after Kalanick was pressured to step down, and Graves said that he preferred to make his own move before the new leader was chosen. Uber is now actively searching for a new chief executive.

In his email to staff, Graves acknowledged that Uber itself was going through a bumpy transition, but he also framed the company's recent fall from grace as an opportunity to turn things around. Founder and CEO Travis Kalanick was the most high-profile departure, but a who's who of Uber's other senior members have also jumped ship recently.

GCAA denies reports of eased airspace restrictions for Qatar planes
It said that the related news reports were based on some voluntary sites, such as Flightradar24, which provide inaccurate images. As result of the boycott, 18 destinations in the region are out of reach for Qatar Airways, Qatar's state-owned flag carrier.

Graves was the first employee hired by Uber and quickly ascended the company's ranks. As the SVP of global operations, Graves has focused on initiatives like Uber's food delivery service, UberEats.

"In some ways my focus going forward will not actually change very much", Graves said in an August 10 internal email obtained by Quartz.
