Man 'faked crying' when asked about gun in Clinton police officer killing

New Charges Filed in Fatal Shooting of Police Officer. Charged is William Grant Noble of Clinton

The Henry County prosecutor says that Noble knew the rifle was used in a crime and attempted to hide it. Police say he started acting suspicious when he saw the safe was damaged.

At that point, police claim Noble 'acted visibly upset and faked crying'.

William Noble, 35, faces a felony charge of tampering with evidence because police say he disposed of the gun used to kill Clinton Police Officer Gary Michael. He was unarmed when taken into custody about 20 miles away from the murder scene, police said.

The court has issued a warrant with a bond of $25,000 cash only, according to the news release.

Authorities say he shot and killed Michael Sunday night during a traffic stop.

Noble initially told two officers who visited his home on Thursday that he bought the rifle and sold it to McCarthy.

The probable cause statement does not address how Noble knew McCarthy and Missouri State Highway Patrol spokesman Bill Lowe said Thursday the relationship was unclear.

He then told them that he had been out Sunday night, but when he came home about 2 a.m. Monday he found the rifle inside the doorway.

Mourinho impressed by Lukaku & Matic despite mistakes in Real Madrid loss
United play West Ham at Old Trafford on Sunday and Mourinho has all his new signings available but is without last season's top scorer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The affidavit did not say why officers wanted to talk to him, but they told him they wanted to see guns he owned.

The suspect in the case, Ian McCarthy, was arrested after an alert driver provided a tip that the fugitive was wandering within miles of where the killing took place, a law enforcement official said.

As the officers were getting ready to leave, one of them asked Noble if he knew where the gun was.

Noble said he couldn't tell them where the gun was, but he could tell them where he threw it.

Police say Noble took them to the intersection of NW 300th Road and NW 131st Road, north of the Clinton city limits.

Investigators have said it's possible that other people helped McCarthy by giving him a ride or clothes.

Michael's funeral will be held Saturday August 12, 2017 at 11:00am at Benson Convention Center in Clinton.
