'People Are Awesome' Adds 1.4 Million Facebook Fans Following Viral Round-Up Video

Facebook Introduces New 'Watch' Video Platform

Watchlist feature of the tab will help users to easily follow their favorite shows.

You'll find sections like "Most Talked About", which highlights shows that spark conversation, "What's Making People Laugh", which includes shows where many people have used the "Haha" reaction, and "What Friends Are Watching", which helps you connect with friends about shows they too are following.

Facebook is straying further into YouTube territory.

Initially, Facebook Watch will have a limited release and will only be available in the United States.

To help users keep a tap on the shows they follow, there's also a Watchlist so users don't miss out any episodes.

All of which has led some to predict that Facebook will ultimately end up on the same diss list as YouTube, ie a platform that the music industry reluctantly does business with, for marketing and content management reasons, but which is routinely bad mouthed by the music community to politicians and the press. They will also be able to comment in real time, and a tab will show what their friends are watching.

Reverend Richard Coles is the fifth contestant confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing

In an apparent bid to take on Google-owned YouTube, Facebook has rolled out "Watch" - a redesigned video platform for creators and publishers.

Live shows that connect directly with fans. Each episode features a new child, a new chef, and a new recipe. Major League Baseball is broadcasting a game a week on Facebook, enabling people to watch live baseball while connecting with friends and fellow fans on the platform. A range of shows can shine on Watch - reality, comedy, even live sports, and more. Similarly, the ability to make shows will also be available to a small amount of U.S. users for now. For example, Returning the Favour is a series hosted by Mike Rowe where he finds people doing something extraordinary for their community, tells the world about it, and in turn does something extraordinary for them.

Watch is also a place for creators and publishers though.

Facebook Watch is also said to be cross-compatible with all devices, meaning users can access content on desktop computers, laptops, smartphones, tablets and more.

Reuters reported in May that Facebook had signed deals with millennial-focused news and entertainment creators Vox Media, BuzzFeed, ATTN, Group Nine Media and others to produce shows, both scripted and unscripted.
