Reverend Richard Coles is the fifth contestant confirmed for Strictly Come Dancing

Gemma Atkinson

"I am more likely to fit in a show like Gladiators, but that's why I wanted to do it, it's a challenge", she explained. "I just want to do something I've not done before, ' she said, adding that she's hoping her professional dance partner will be 'tall and strong".

Gemma's signing comes just a day after This Morning's Ruth Langsford revealed that she had been approached to take part in the show and is looking forward to slipping on her dancing shoes as she's been wanting to do the programme for years now.

BBC broadcaster Richard Coles has been confirmed as one of the participants in the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing. I'm very relieved because I've had to keep this a secret for so long.

Actor Davood Ghadami became the next name to be officially revealed on the Strictly line up by the BBC. "Put me in a gym with a load of lads and dumbbells I'm fine, put me on a dance floor in a frock and it's way out of my comfort zone, so I've got to do it". "See you under the Glitterball!"

Speaking about how he is preparing for the show he said: "I've cut down on pork pies".

Boatload of migrants stun Spanish sunbathers
More than 1,700 have been rescued from the water so far this year, with the month of June alone seeing more than 900. It is believed the suspected migrants crossed the Strait of Gibraltar from Northern Africa.

On Wednesday it was announced that Loose Women's Ruth Langsford will be joining the competition.

"The sum of my dance experience is throwing a few shapes at a party, I've never had a dance lesson in my life. It'll be a welcome change worrying about my next hot move instead of my next hot flush!" Earlier this year she left Emmerdale and joined the Key 103 breakfast team in Manchester.

"I've said every year I'd love to do Strictly".

While an exact start date has yet to be confirmed, around Saturday September 9 seems the likely launch date.
