Michael Hefele pens new Huddersfield deal

Huddersfield

Ahead of the trip to South London, boss David Wagner has spoken about how despite facing tougher opposite than in previous seasons, the mood at the club will not change.

Now they have arrived in the promised land, the official club website has announced that the 26-year-old defender has committed to the Terriers until 2019, following his transfer from German side Dynamo Dresden.

The Premier League is back this weekend and Crystal Palace are strongly fancied to get off to a winning start, with Frank de Boer's men facing top flight newcomers Huddersfield Town in his first game.

Last season Hudson made 21 appearances for the Yorkshire side in what would be his last season as a player in club football, enough for him to earn a play-off medal after being named as an unused substitute.

West Ham look to tie Liverpool target Lanzini to new deal
Ayew endured a frustrating debut campaign last season largely due to injury but appears to be in top shape. West Ham forked out £16million to Bayer Leverkusen to bring Hernandez back to England this summer.

Also a League Cup runner-up, Hudson will leave playing behind with 460 games under his belt largely across the top two divisions of English football, which includes 109 games for the Terriers in three Sky Bet Championship campaigns.

Michael Hefele has signed a new deal with Huddersfield Town to 2019.

His exact role has yet to be defined but, in the interim, he will support the preparations and training for Town's Premier League debut in 2017/18 alongside Wagner and the technical staff.

Back in April of past year, Hudson had already joined the backroom staff as a player-coach and now the move will mean he can continue with his studies on his UEFA A Licence course. I know retirement can feel like a sad day as a former player, but he has so much still to give this Club and football and that is exciting. "I think everyone can see how big of an influence he is in the dressing room and how good of a character he is for the team".
