Arsenal staged their fightback after Okazaki came off in the 72nd minute.

Arsenal hope Lacazette will help them return to the top four of the Premier League table and qualify for the UEFA Champions League - something they missed out on last season for the first time since Arsene Wenger took over as manager in 1996.

Alexandre Lacazette scored the joint-fastest goal on the opening day of a Premier League season by heading home after 94 seconds of Arsenal's game against Leicester City.

Danny Welbeck levelled matters in first-half stoppage time, completing a fast-paced, pulsating first half of action.

The Frenchman and fellow substitute Aaron Ramsay scored in the final seven minutes as Arsenal twice came from behind, the Welshman levelling two minutes before Giroud headed the decider.

The spirit of the team was absolutely outstanding.

"The goals we conceded, we can work to get rid of that".

In overseas trading, stock markets across the Asia-Pacific region saw continued weakness during trading on Friday. Among other markets, oil prices advanced after a US Department of Energy report showed lower oil inventories.

"It's impossible to keep them happy when strikers don't play". I opened the door for him because I know I had many strikers. "They all deserve to play". The two sides have both figured in the transfer market as well, with Arsenal signing Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac while holding onto Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez (thus far, anyhow), while Leicester has brought in Kelechi Iheanacho from Manchester City and is widely expected to be dealing Riyad Mahrez prior to the August 31 deadline.

"Arsenal had a lot of possession and have world-class players".

"Overall we showed great character. We've got a challenging start but if we get this type of performance then we'll get points on the board".

"We're gonna win the league!" sang the Leicester fans and they nearly had a third goal to cheer when Okazaki's header from Christian Fuchs's cross bounced just wide of Cech's left-hand post. Albrighton crossed for Jamie Vardy to put Leicester ahead after Xhaka had gifted the ball straight to him.

Okazaki almost made Arsenal's first half even more galling but he could only head narrowly wide with the home defence all over the place.

The second half brought more of the same though, with Vardy adding his second nine minutes after the interval, rising highest and glancing Riyad Mahrez's corner past Petr Cech.

Schmeichel was alert to prevent Hector Bellerin finishing off a slick Arsenal attack.
