Guam is telling its citizens how to survive a nuclear attack

Trump's cabinet finally lays out a clear strategy on North Korea. Donald Trump Twitter

Unlike past missile launches that landed much closer to North Korean territory, firing a barrage near Guam would be extremely provocative, nearly compelling a response. "So I think it's important to be very strong".

Trump has pushed China to pressure North Korea to halt a nuclear weapons program that is nearing the capability of targeting the United States.

The governor of Guam, Eddie Baza Calvo, said there had been no change to the threat level on the island, despite the harsh words.

"Things will happen to them like they never thought possible, OK?" He said the North would finalize a plan by mid-August to fire four mid-range missiles hitting waters 19 to 25 miles (30 to 40 kilometers) away from the island.

Jacob Martinez, 29, a purchasing officer at a high-end hotel, said he was frustrated that Guam, an island smaller than Singapore and about 11,000 km away from the US mainland, might be dragged into a major conflict.

"The KPA Strategic Force is now carefully examining the operational plan for making an enveloping fire at the areas around Guam with medium-to-long-range strategic ballistic rocket Hwasong-12", the KCNA statement read, "in order to contain the USA major military bases on Guam including the Anderson Air Force Base in which the US strategic bombers.are stationed". USA bombers have flown over the Korean Peninsula several times to show American strength after Pyongyang's missile tests.

DJ Mueller denies Taylor Swift's accusations: 'I did not grab her'
The alleged assault is said to have occurred in 2013 during a Denver stopover on the singer's Red tour. The judge in Taylor Swift's groping trial has thrown DJ David Mueller's case out of court.

He later retweeted a posting from U.S. Pacific Command that showed B-1B Lancer bomber planes on Guam that "stand ready to fulfill USFK's #FightTonight mission if called upon to do so".

KCNA said on Wednesday a mass rally was held in Pyongyang to support the government. The U.S. took control of Guam in 1898, when Spanish authorities surrendered to the U.S. Navy. Guam was also a refueling and transfer spot for people heading to Southeast Asia, and many refugees fleeing Saigon were evacuated through Guam.

"They believe that we are not true USA citizens, when we do have plenty of Chamorro people going into the USA military and serving for their country and dying for their country", he said. "And not a lot of Americans know that".

North Korea says it is in the final stages of preparing a plan to launch four intermediate-range ballistic missiles over Japan and into waters off the tiny island of Guam, where about 7,000 US troops are based and 160,000 USA civilians live.

The call came after Trump unleashed a slew of fresh threats against North Korea on Friday, declaring the USA military "locked and loaded" and warning North Korean leader Kim Jong Un that he "will regret it fast" if he takes any action against US territories or allies.

Guam is armed with the U.S. Army's defense system known as Terminal High Altitude Area Defense, or THAAD, which can intercept missiles.
