Matsuyama knocks on the major door

Rory Mc Ilroy of Northern Ireland hits from the bunker on the 15th hole during the final round of the PGA Championship golf tournament at the Quail Hollow Club Sunday Aug. 13 2017 in Charlotte N.C

That's because the Aiken, S.C., native didn't have to worry about the inclement weather that suspended play on Friday afternoon at the PGA Championship.

American Kisner carded a second straight four-under 67 at Quail Hollow.

While the majority of the morning starters struggled with Quail Hollow's thick Bermuda rough, Kisner had no such trouble and was hot with the putter. "I wanted to be around this weekend", said Stricker, who last missed a cut in a major at the 2009 PGA Championship at Hazeltine. "I feel like I have the game to compete in majors, and tons of 30th, 40th and 50th-place finishes".

Kisner held the overnight lead with Denmark's Thorbjorn Olesen, who has had a rocky start to his second round, going birdie-par-bogey on his first three holes.

You can bet Stroud won't mind going through that whole process again Sunday night, this time with the Wanamaker Trophy by his side.

"I was just trying to get it in the bunker, and luckily I hit it with enough speed, and it got up and out of there".

"I hit the driver really good", Johnson said. "I was hitting fairways but I wasn't getting the crisp contact that I was hoping for".

Never in his 10-year professional career has McIlroy come from 10 shots back with two rounds to play to win any of his 22 career victories.

Hideki Matsuyama barely missed a birdie putt on the 18th hole that would have given him sole possession of the lead at the PGA Championship.

OFF: Leicester's Iheanacho, Musa, Ndidi Ambush Arsenal's Iwobi At Emirates
It was a game that Arsenal ought to have won, having dominated proceedings all through the 90 minutes and the added time . We were quite good a year ago on corners and overall I believe that with a bit of work we can get that out of the system.

Former world number one and 2015 US PGA champion Jason Day was two shots behind Matsuyama and Kisner after 14 holes of his second round.

"I'd quite like it to play wet".

They speak of Southern hospitality a lot in these parts, but you won't find much of a warm welcome when it comes to the new first hole they've rolled out at Quail Hollow Club for the PGA Championship. Day and Stroud were two shots behind while Louis Oosthuizen and Francesco Molinari of Italy were three back.

McGirt, who teed off at 1:10 p.m. Friday, completed 11 holes before the horn sounded while he was preparing for a putt on the par-4 third hole.

Matsuyama rattled off four consecutive birdies from the 12th hole at Quail Hollow, where play was halted by a thunderstorm for nearly two hours.

Matsuyama had a bogey-free round that including seven birdies, five on the final seven holes.

Jordan Spieth figured he was too far back to chase the final leg of the career Grand Slam this year. The former British Open champion appeared to injure his wrist hitting off of a tree root on the par-4 fifth hole, but he chose to keep playing after meeting with a trainer.

Smith suffered around the turn in his second round before steadying the ship on the way home, finishing three over par in total and inside the top 50.
