One survivor in overnight Long Island hammer attacks

Police NY man kills mother sister 3rd woman with hammer

Nassau, New York police say 34-year-old Bobby Vanderhall beat his mother Lynn, 29-year-old sister Melissa, and Melissa's best friend, Janel Simpson to death with a hammer. Meanwhile, Bobby killed her sister's other friend Janel, who he found in a room upstairs, in the same manner.

'He went to the garage, he obtained a large hammer. With this hammer, he broke through the basement door'. The fourth female victim - who was also struck with the hammer - was transported to a local hospital where she is listed in stable condition.

Specialists say the three ladies were discovered dead inside the Vanderhall's Hempstead, New York, home of "limit constrain injury" at around 2:15 a.m.

Bobby Vanderhall, 34, was charged with murder in the deaths of the three women after police found him sleeping in a auto nearby.

Expect a cloudy, hot and humid Sunday
Some areas of fog may begin to form again after midnight, so locally dense fog will be a possibility early Sunday morning. The rain will stay clear of the area through the evening, leaving temperatures in the low to mid 70s and a few clouds.

The Post reported that her wrist was broken fending off the attack. "The most handsome memory of my daughter was her smile, her love, she was so protective of me", said Wendy Simpson, the mother of one of the victims.

Fitzpatrick said Vanderhall had a history of "emotional issues" and had on two occasions been taken from his mother's home to a medical center. His mother had even obtained an order of protection against him.

"The family right now is distraught", said Juanita Johnson, a cousin of the Vanderhalls, on Saturday.

Vanderhall was awaiting arraignment on three murder charges and an attempted murder charge. "These girls don't give problems, these girls just have fun", Simpson said. He was asleep in his vehicle. He is scheduled for arraignment on Sunday and is now being kept in Mineola in Nassau County.
