People in Guam unfazed by threat of nuclear war by North Korea

US sent two bombers to Korea this week: official

After North Korea released details of the draft missile plan, Trump commented on his Tuesday remarks, saying, "Frankly the people that were questioning that statement, was it too tough, maybe it wasn't tough enough".

On Saturday, some of Japan's land-based Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) missile interceptors began arriving at Japanese Self Defense Forces (SDF) bases in three of the four prefectures any North Korean missiles would likely fly over en route to Guam.

The SDF spokesman said the country's Aegis ballistic missile defense system was deployed in the waters between Japan and the Korean Peninsula, but would not give a specific location. They are expected to arrive in the designated sites early Saturday.

Guam, a USA island territory in the West Pacific, is home to a joint military command.

To prevent nuclear attacks from elsewhere, namely Russian Federation and China, the United States has relied on its potent nuclear arsenal. Guam is a United States territory and residents are USA citizens.

He also reassured anxious residents an attack on Guam is "an attack or threat on the United States" and said, "Guam is on American soil".

Despite tensions and talk of war, life on the streets of the North Korean capital Pyongyang remains calm. There are no air raid drills or cars in camouflage netting as was the case during previous crises.

Guam is a launching point for USA strategic bombers that the North, virtually flattened by US bombs during the 1950-53 Korean War, sees as particularly threatening.

The Australian government failed to respond to questions regarding preparations for a nuclear attack from North Korea. It is also mulling the acquisition of munitions that would allow it to strike North Korea missile sites. "If North Korea commits provocations despite our stern warning, it will face a strong response from South Korea's military and the US-South Korea alliance".

He said now is the time to pray that the leaders of the US and North Korea will choose peace over war.

The North's military chief Ri Myong Su responded saying that if the United States continued in its "reckless" behaviour, Pyongyang would "inflict the most miserable and merciless punishment upon all the provokers".

"We can't let a madman with nuclear weapons let on the loose like that", Trump told Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte during an April 29 phone call.

On Friday, Trump tweeted: "Military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded, should North Korea act unwisely". "Hopefully Kim Jong Un will find another path!"

Gaminde's remarks comes after North Korea announced earlier on Thursday that the nation has a detailed plan for a missile strike near Guam, where about 7,000 USA troops are stationed, using four intermediate-range ballistic rockets.

Instead, it has been testing missiles at an unprecedented pace and threatening to launch some of those toward Guam. The plan would be sent to Kim for approval just before or as the U.S.

The KPA spokesman said in a statement it was "carefully examining" a recommendation by Kim Jong-un for "a powerful and effective action plan for containing the US imperialists' aggression hardware".

The statement follows days of back-and-forth threats between Trump and Kim.

His warning included an apocalyptic threat: "They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen".

The view was echoed by Guam governor Eddie Calvo who added: 'You know typhoons can strike anytime, so that means families are making family emergency plans and kits together. "I'm pretty confident the USA will protect us".

But few of the military options are straightforward, and some former Pentagon officials involved in war planning for North Korea pointed to the complexities.
