Intel CEO quits Trump's advisory council, leaving Dell as only tech company

Merck chairman and CEO Kenneth Frazier has resigned from the American Manufacturing Council citing

Four chief executives have resigned from the White House manufacturing council in protest of the president's failure to immediately condemn white supremacists and other hate groups after deadly violence last weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Intel CEO Brian Krzanich quits Trump's joined Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank and Merck CEO Kenneth Frazier to leave President Trump's manufacturing council, marking the third departure by a high-profile business leader in the space of a day.

On immigration, racism and climate change, CEOs have sought to provide the moral leadership they perceive to be lacking from the White House.

Frazier, Plank and Krzanich are not the first CEOs to drop out of a Trump advisory role.

Trump told reporters in Bedminster, New Jersey, on Saturday that he condemned "in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides".

He is also saying they are "not taking their jobs seriously" as he takes questions from reporters at Trump Tower in New York City, where he is spending a few days during a break from Washington.

He said that Prime Minister expressed concern on Gorakhpur deaths, will he ask someone to take responsibility and resign. On cooperative federalism, Modi said this had changed the terms of engagement between the Centre and the states.

On Monday, he made a more forceful statement from the White House. The president later posted a tweet criticizing the company. Like several other corporate leaders, Alex Gorsky, chairman and CEO of Johnson & Johnson, said that intolerance and racism have no place in USA society but that he meant to stay on the manufacturing council.

Michael Dell is the only tech CEO left on Trump's council, although he's still in good company.

Manufacturing analysts said more executives could follow in an effort to distance themselves from Trump's lackluster response to hateful rhetoric and actions.

Scott said on Twitter that it was "the right thing for me to do". On Under Armour's Facebook page Yesterday, customers who supported Trump threatened to boycott the athletic clothier. The initiative was designed to advice the president on ways to create more manufacturing jobs in the United States. "It's certainly a sign that Trump's more controversial stuff isn't playing well with companies selling to middle America", said Goolsbee, now a professor at the University of Chicago.

Walt Disney chairman and chief executive Bob Iger resigned for the same reason from the president's strategic and policy forum.

By Monday afternoon the AFL-CIO said it was "assessing" its role in the manufacturing group - which it said "has yet to hold any real meeting".
