Two Northeast Ohio CEOs Sat on Trump's Now Dissolved Economic Advisory Panels

Trump disbands advisory panels after company CEOs quit

U.S. President Donald Trump has axed his business advisory council after corporate CEOs resigned in protest of his remarks assigning equal blame for white supremacist riots in Charlottesville, Virginia, to anti-racist counter-protesters.

As detailed by reports, the decision to finally disband the council came after Trump's comments over the weekend that did not explicitly denounce neo-Nazi and white nationalist groups at the heart of the violence in Charlottesville, Virginia. "Thank you all!" Trump's personal account posted.

The President's Strategic and Policy Forum was conceived as a bi-partisan group of business leaders called to serve our country by providing independent feedback and perspectives directly to the President on accelerating economic growth and job creation in the United States.

DIY Retailer Kingfisher Slides on Poor Sales in Key Markets
It said the poor performance would continue in the short term as Bunnings restructured the business. Its like-for-like sales fell 4.7 percent versus expectations for a 3 percent fall.

Wednesday morning, around 3 a.m. ET: Schwarzman requested all Forum members join a conference call in the morning. But today Morrison announced a change of heart and issued a strong statement condemning the President's response to Charlottesville.

Tuesday evening: Calls began again between members. An unnamed member of the Strategic and Policy Forum told CNBC that the group wanted to disband "as a panel, not as individuals because it would have more significant impact". On Twitter, the president said he had made a decision to end both groups to relieve pressure on them. "The White House just seems to be in chaos and Trump is losing support right and left from Republicans and Democrats alike and his one core area, the business community, are all abandoning him, too, which certainly calls into question the ability to get anything accomplished whatsoever in this term unless he takes actions to right the ship", said Mary Ann Hurley, vice president in fixed income trading at D.A. Davidson in Seattle, Washington. Leave, they said, and she closes the door to Trump and the government, and possibly alienates Trump-loving GM auto buyers; stay on the council, and she looks like an asshole after Tuesday's mess at Trump Tower. In a statement, he said Trump's words "are dividing Americans, not healing them". New York Times' reporter Landon Thomas Jr. also claims that 9 of the 12 CEOs had said they would step down if the council was not disbanded first.
