Assange denies Russian involvement in DNC email leaks, promises more details

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange speaks on the balcony of the Embassy of Ecuador in London

Rohrabacher's office said he and Assange met for "some three hours" at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on Wednesday, where Assange has been living in asylum since 2012.

During the meeting, Assange assured Rohrabacher that Russian Federation was not the source of leaks which WikiLeaks published during the 2016 campaign related to the Democratic Party, and he promised specific information would be provided to prove that.

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher said Thursday he wants to brief President Donald Trump on his meeting with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

Rohrabacher, however, said Assange "emphatically stated that the Russians were not involved in the hacking or disclosure of those emails", though the statement by Rohrabacher, who chairs the House of Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Europe, Eurasia, and Emerging Threats, has been met with skepticism as he has been described as "Putin's favorite congressman" for his pro-Russian views on several occasions, according to Business Insider.

Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) met with Wikileaks founder Julian Assange for three hours in London Wednesday and said the controversial document leaker claims to have proof Russian Federation was not behind the Democratic National Committee email hacks.

Van plows into crowd in Barcelona in 'terrorist attack', police say
They said they were working on the hypothesis that the terrorists shot dead in Cambrils are linked to what happened in Barcelona . Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said the van attack in Barcelona was "jihadist terrorism" which required a global response.

Trump said that the emails showed Clinton's corruption, proving that she was unfit to lead the country.

"Julian also indicated that he is open to further discussions regarding specific information about the DNC email incident that is now unknown to the public", he added. The White House has not confirmed whether it was aware of the meeting ahead of time.

Four U.S. intelligence said they had "high confidence" that Russian Federation was to blame for the DNC hacks and then leaked the documents to Wikileaks, which published them in full.

The lengthy sit-down, first reported by the Daily Caller, was held at at the Ecuadorian embassy in London, where Assange has taken asylum for the past five years after facing a sexual assault charge in Sweden.

Assange has denied the rape accusations, and says the claims are part of an attempt to ultimately have him extradited to the United States, where he could be charged over WikiLeaks' release of 500,000 secret military files on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
