Facebook Is Finally Combating Clickbait Videos, This Is War

Facebook Declares War on Video Clickbait

Facebook specified two forms of video clickbait that it's seeking to bury: content that show fake video play buttons and videos that only show a static image when played.

It turns out that social media giant Facebook has finally chose to kill fake videos from its platform.

As to what types of steps Facebook is taking to address these types of contents might be, it starts with an update that is meant to lower the rankings of any video found to have committed any of the acts associated with click bait.

Furthermore, spam publishers who try to trick people into clicking links to low-quality websites are also a big problem which the company is facing right now.

Facebook in December began rolling out a series of changes to stem hoaxes, clickbait and false news stories like those that spread ahead of last year's United States presidential election.

The updates are twofold, Facebook announced on Thursday.

HBO Accidentally Leaked the Next Episode of 'Game of Thrones'
Footages from the leaked video are already trending on YouTube, Instagram, Reddit, Twitch and other streaming services. HBO's Facebook and Twitter accounts were hacked by OurMine - a group known for hacking high profile social account.

The development forms part of its efforts to fight clickbait and improve the integrity of information on Facebook.

Facebook has started fake news campaign after it was blamed for spreading misleading content.

The company is planning to push this update across the globe in coming weeks.

"People want to see accurate information on Facebook, and so do we", the company said in a statement. Sometimes, fake video play buttons may be displayed on an image or there might be a video of a static image only.
