Trump abandons plans for infrastructure council

Donald Trump defends Charlottesville responses, omits reference to 'many sides'

US President Donald Trump killed his advisory council on infrastructure before it was even born, a White House official told reporters.

The business advisory council defections were prompted by Trump's reactions to a white supremacist rally that left one woman dead and almost 20 others injured after a auto rammed into counter-protesters.

The action came a day after Trump announced he was disbanding two business advisory councils amid a flurry of resignations by members rejecting his remarks about a deadly hate rally in Charlottesville, VA last weekend.

A 32-year-old woman was killed when a vehicle ploughed its way through a group of protesters last Saturday in the Virginia town, sparking a wave of condemnation of the neo-Nazi groups.

Bloomberg, CNBC and political newspaper The Hill reported that the president's planned Advisory Council on Infrastructure "would not move forward".

Amid North Korea Crisis, China and US Aim to Deepen Military Cooperation
Moon has repeatedly urged North Korea not to "cross the red line" but had not previously elaborated what that would constitute. He said President Trump "has told us to develop credible, viable military options, and that's exactly what we're doing".

But in a rancorous news conference on Tuesday he backtracked and again blamed left-wing counter-protesters for the violence too.

The forum was only formally established in July, but NY property developers Richard LeFrak and Steven Roth had reportedly been earmarked to lead the panel since before Trump's inauguration.

Mr Trump signed an executive order last month establishing the Advisory Council on Infrastructure.

Trump said he dissolved the American Manufacturing Council and the Strategic and Policy Forum "rather than putting pressure" on its members, although both groups were preparing to disband on their own when Trump made his announcement on Twitter.
