Syria Threatens With 'Serious Consequences' Following Chemical Plant Attack

Israeli plane strikes Syrian positions in Hama province kills two servicemen – Syrian Army

The strike comes a day after the United Nations said the Syrian government was responsible for a chemical weapons attack in April against the northern city of Khan Sheikhoun that killed more than 80 people.

"The IDF policy is that we don't respond to foreign allegations or reports", an Israeli army spokesman told The Media Line.

Gen. (res.) Gadi Shamni on Thursday warned that Israel "must do everything to prevent Iran from getting a better stronghold than that which it already has on Syria". Yadlin, who now serves as the director of Israel's Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), added that such a "complex" strike would depend entirely upon "excellent intelligence". The targeted agency, located in near the town Masyaf, has been accused by the U.S. of developing chemical weapons for President Bashar Assad.

Israel has refused to comment on the strikes but the Syrian army general command has confirmed the attack.

Weeks later, the USA sanctioned 271 Syrian chemists and other officials affiliated with the SSRC, which it said was behind the Syrian government's efforts to develop chemical weapons.

Israeli fighter jets have struck a military facility in western Syria, killing two people, according to a Syrian commander.

However, Israel's military spokeswoman has declined to comment on the "operational matters".

BDO will be looking to save as numerous 250 jobs as possible across the agency's offices in London, Asia and the Middle East. One of Bell Pottinger's major shareholders has handed back its portion after failing to find anyone to buy it.

"Israel will not allow Hezbollah to use the chaos in Syria to be stronger in the future", he said.

Even before the outbreak of the war in Syria, the bombed centre was on Israel's radar. "If Israel strikes Hezbollah in Lebanon, definitely it will respond", the official said.

The militant Lebanese Shia Islamist movement, which last fought a war with Israel in 2006 and is backed by its arch-enemy Iran, has sent thousands of fighters to support Syria's army in the country's six-year civil war.

Moreover some unconfirmed Lebanese reports said Israel also struck a convoy belonging to Hezbollah.

The Observatory reported that seven people were killed or wounded in the strike.

In April, the Trump administration placed sanctions on employees of CERS in the aftermath of a chemical attack on the city of Khan Sheikhoun, a Syrian rebel stronghold, that killed more than 80 civilians, including children.

A few weeks later, Hezbollah launched an operation against Daesh in west Qalamoun simultaneously with the Lebanese Army's "Fajr al-Joroud" offensive on the outskirts of northeast Lebanon's Al-Qaa and Ras Baalbeck.
