New York Jets vs. Buffalo Bills

The Bills have led the National Football League in rushing in each of LeSean McCoy's first two seasons in Buffalo, with the running back coming off one of the best years of his career.

Buffalo caught a break if its actually trying to win in learning quarterback Tyrod Taylor cleared concussion protocol and will start Sunday.

LeSean McCoy led the Bills with 159 total yards (110 rushing, 49 receiving). It probably didn't please the replacement ref from 2012 who urged McCoy, then of the Eagles, to help his fantasy team during a game.

Safeties Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde each made fourth-quarter interceptions in their debuts for Buffalo. Jermaine Kearse caught seven passes for 59 yards.

A year ago, the Jets would sweep the Bills for the first time since 2011. He's thrown 37 TDs to 12 INTs for a 94.2 rating, and his 1,107 rushing yards are the most among NFL QBs. A 22-yard reception by Nick O'Leary put the Bills in scoring range. The 38-year-old McCown played fairly well in the second half of last season with the Cleveland Browns, throwing for 1,100 yards in five games, but NY lost emerging receiver Quincy Enunwa to a season-ending neck injury in the offseason, leaving aging running back Matt Forté and all-purpose threat Bilal Powell as the top playmakers. McCown's attempt at a tying 2-point conversion pass was intercepted by Buffalo's Ramon Humber.

Irma Brings Rain and Breezy Conditions
The storm looks like it will also severely impact Georgia and SC early next week before turning inland. The handsome weather will continue into Monday with mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid-70s.

Buffalo held a 236-85 advantage in yardage at halftime, but only led 7-6.

"It's going to be a long year", former Jets quarterback Boomer Esiason, whose 1995 team finished with the second-worst record (3-13) in franchise history, told Newsday on August 30. The passing game won't necessarily be strong in this season opener, but the running game is still solid in the hands of Bilal Powell and Matt Forte.

Chandler Catanzaro kicked field goals from 52 and 48 yards in the second quarter for the Jets. Bowles' unit gave up 18 plays of 10 or more yards and eight plays of 20 or more yards, not including a 24-yard defensive pass interference penalty on CB Morris Claiborne in the first half. Bryce Petty is next up on the Jets' depth chart. Christian Hackenberg backed up McCown.

No, the troubling part is the fact that Leonard Williams and Muhammad Wilkerson were non-factors for long stretches of the game, and that the Jets secondary struggled to contain the damage. In the 17 seasons since the Bills were last in the postseason they've posted a 112-160 record and a consistently mediocre average winning percentage of.412, all of which doesn't allow them to select players at the top of each draft.
