Immigrant Activists and States Vow to Fight Trump on Termination of DACA

Trump said Thursday said he was "fairly close" to a deal with congressional leaders to preserve protections for young immigrants living illegally in America, pushing back against assertions from House and Senate Democratic leaders that they had reached a deal Wednesday night on the issue.

Pelosi's comment was immediately shut down on Twitter by Trump saying "no deal was made last night on DACA, massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent. would be subject to vote".

"This afternoon the Speaker and Majority Leader met with a number of House Democrats at their request to discuss DACA, and they reiterated that any solution needs to address border security and enforcement, which are the root causes of the problem", Ryan's spokeswoman, AshLee Strong, said, The Hill reported.

"I do understand that he's very frustrated in how things are not getting done, hence he's talking with the Democrats", Barletta said.

And soon after, Trump appeared to confirm that approach. Started in 2012, DACA awarded a renewable, two-year work permit and a reprieve from deportation proceedings to undocumented immigrants who came to the country before they were 16 years old and were 30 or younger as of June 2012.

An additional estimated 17,000 individuals from India and 6,000 Pakistan respectively are eligible for DACA, placing India in the top ten countries for DACA eligibility, it said.

After hearing this, Iowa Congressman Steve King said this will hurt Trump's support base.

The judge criticized the government's use of "arbitrary deadlines" and said "it would be useful to take some of the pressure off the various people, these good accomplished young people who the president talks about with admiration".

Last week, President Trump announced the repeal of the DACA program over a period of six months.

Assembly speaker says he won't be 'held hostage' on state budget
Walker said Wednesday that the budget fulfills his goals of increasing funding for K-12 schools without increasing property taxes. Stephen Nass, R-Whitewater, said he wants to see a January 1 effective date to repeal the state's prevailing wage requirement.

"We can not wait for Trump's self-imposed six months' deadline for Congress to do something", said Kica Matos, of the Fair Immigration Reform Movement (FIRM).

It was a head-snapping series of events for a president whose White House campaign demonized immigrants and focused intensely on construction of a border wall that Trump insisted Mexico would pay for.

Before September 2017, nearly 800,000 were said to be enrolled in the scheme after having arrived illegally in the USA when they were children - some with parents who had legal work visas but who had failed to obtain them for their children, others with families who had been unsuccessful in seeking asylum.

None of this makes even the tiniest bit of sense, but I will try mightily to make some of it nonetheless.

Coulter was responding to one of Trump's tweets in which he defended immigrants who came to the U.S.as undocumented children.

U.S. Rep. Bill Flores, R-Bryan, said he was optimistic a deal could be reached.

"The Democrats have a clear and unified mass immigration agenda", he said.

But after there was immediate backlash - including a headline on the conservative news site, Breitbart, "Amnesty Don", Trump said Thursday he was not backing off on the proposed wall.

The shift on whether an immigration deal hinged on funding for the wall, something many Trump campaign supporters would have thought to be unheard of while listening to Trump's white-hot rhetoric on immigrants during the 2016 campaign, shows the President's desire to strike a deal from the White House and his willingness to work with Democrats to do it. Republicans broadly favor more stringent border security.
