Larry King reveals lung cancer diagnosis

While Larry King may have previously kept quiet about his lung cancer diagnosis, he's now sharing the details.

He just revealed that he was diagnosed with lung cancer last spring and has kept it a secret until now.

Despite giving up smoking in the 1980s, doctors told Larry that the tobacco he inhaled was "still related" to his cancer.

"If I had not had the chest X-ray, it would have progressed", he said.

"Part of the check-up is a chest X-ray and that is the protocol", King said. The surgery took 20 percent of his lung and although he suffered some pain and shortness of breath afterward, King was able to go back to work after a week of recuperation. "Let's do a CAT scan, '" King, 83, said.

Martin Scorsese pens emotional tribute to Frank Vincent
As an adult, he became a session drummer for such singers as Paul Anka, Del Shannon, Trini Lopez and The Belmonts. The Sopranos star Frank Vincent has been cremated and will be displayed at his upcoming memorial service.

Then, in 1985 he started hosting the nightly programme Larry King Live on CNN. "The doctor said to me, "It was malignant but you were in the first stage". The "Larry King Now" star returned to have surgery after two weeks to remove the malignant mass.

Doctors noticed a spot on the 83-year-old's lung during a routine check-up this summer (17) and chose to operate. Then, in his 70s, he found out that he had prostate cancer, which was treated with radiation and didn't require surgery.

King used to smoke three packs a day and gave up cold turkey after having a heart attack 30 years ago. "They tested it. They said, 'You are fine.' It was stage 1". And King quit smoking after a heart attack in the late '80s, though his years of smoking before that are still to blame for his lung cancer scare this year, his doctor told him. "That would be on my bucket list". "I will probably die on the air. I saw all the warnings but I never paid attention", he said. I have beaten so many things health-wise to feel this good now.

"I never thought it would happen to me". "They are all painless", and can save your life!
