How Jackie Hoffman Won the Internet When Laura Dern Won the Emmy

Laura Dern Emmys 2017

Jackie Hoffman might not have walked home with the Emmy on Sunday night, but she won our hearts.

To be sure, this was not the last of Hoffman's reaction to losing the Emmy.

After the ceremony she tweeted a series of claims about Dern with the hashtags #elitism and #soreloser.

Instead of the standard polite smile and applause, Hoffman was spotted yelling "Damn it, damn it" and hitting the chair in front of her after Riz Ahmed announced Dern the victor for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama or Limited Series.

"I've been acting since I was 11 years old and I think I've worked with maybe 12 women, so I just wanted to thank the television academy for honouring our show and working with this incredible tribe of fierce women", she said.

Florida Keys reopens for residents to assess damage after Hurricane Irma
COLLEGE COSTS: A growing number of Florida college students turn to crowdfunding to help them pay tuition and fees. Georgia, North Carolina, and SC are large cotton states where damage would impact and an already damaged market.

Again, in case I wasn't clear, this was obviously a joke on Hoffman's part and a very amusing one at that. Dern had always been the favorite in that category, especially after a big night of wins for Big Little Lies already, so it's likely Hoffman had expected to lose going in.

She was beaten to the gong by Big Little Lies' actress Lauren Dern.

Hoffman was also up against her Feud castmate Judy Davis, as well as Shailene Woodley, Regina King and Michelle Pfeiffer.

She then turned to Twitter to share some salacious rumors she had heard about six-time nominee Dern, including tales of exploitation and art looting.

So, was she seriously upset?
